China protested and made a presentation to the European Union in connection with the introduction of restrictive measures against Hong Kong due to the law on the protection of national security that came into force. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin stated this.

The PRC stressed that Hong Kong is a special administrative region of the republic, and its issues relate exclusively to the internal politics of China. Wenbin noted that no state has the right to interfere in the affairs of Hong Kong.

“The actions of the European Union violated the fundamental principle of international relations on non-interference in the internal affairs of other states. China is strongly protesting and has already made a presentation to the EU, ”said a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The Hong Kong National Security Protection Act entered into force on June 30. It outlines the rules for the prevention and punishment of four types of crimes committed in Hong Kong, including separatist and terrorist activities.

The EU expressed concern that the new law could undermine Hong Kong’s high degree of autonomy, negatively impacting the independence of the judiciary.
