During the week that has passed since the previous issue of “MK in Tver” was published, a lot of interesting things have happened in our region. The news agenda is in full swing, especially the political one. And what is doubly pleasant, this news is positive. On the western bridge – maybe the president supported the initiative of our governor, there were total subbotniks. As always, we have collected the main events in our traditional review.
Putin addressed the Federal Assembly
On April 21, Vladimir Putin addressed his Address to the Federal Assembly. This news, of course, is federal, but the Tver region affects both directly and indirectly. To begin with, the Tver governor attended the announcement of the message and personally listened to the president’s strategic statements. And there was a lot of interesting things. In addition to reports on payments and other “goodies”, Vladimir Putin voiced an important decision – to help the population with gasification. Just a week earlier, Governor Igor Rudenya announced his intention to appeal to the country’s leadership with such a proposal. In light of the renewed gasification of the Tver region, this is an excellent reason to speculate about the advantages of good relations with the federal center. What these relations can give, and most importantly, what they have already given, read in the editor’s column on page 15. What else the president said that can be applied to the Tver region, read on page 3.
On April 24, the Tver region took part in the All-Russian subbotnik. Thousands of people took to the streets to clean up areas around houses, parks and embankments.
In Tver, the center of this action was the Komsomolskaya grove. In addition to residents from all over the district, the governor of the Tver region Igor Rudenya, the adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vasiliev, the director of the Tver Foundation, the head of the regional headquarters of the volunteer project #We are together Yulia Saranova and, of course, deputies and leaders of different levels, were also cleaned up here. The clean-up was a success – the grove pleases with its pristine cleanliness. It should be noted that the participants did not confine themselves to the standard tactics of raking branches and pieces of paper. They approached the clearing thoroughly, even removed old trees blown down by the wind. To do this, the first persons took up chainsaws, demonstrating how easy it is to move from administrative work to hard physical labor. And then they themselves dragged these logs and dumped them into a heap so that a special truck with a manipulator would load everything into the back and take them away. Note that this year’s subbotniks were really widespread, there weren’t many of them for many years. Whole labor collectives went out for cleaning. The RIA Verkhnevolzhye media holding held two events: on April 24th they cleaned at the Proletarka recreation center, and on April 25th they organized plogging at the quarries near Konstantinovka.
Two billion to the bridge
The construction of the Western Bridge over the Volga is taking on financial shape. The federal budget allocated 2 billion rubles for the construction of the long-awaited crossing. This project is quite expensive and it will be financed from both the federal and regional budgets. Now the construction site is at a preparatory stage – the allocation of sites, the formation of access roads and the transfer of power lines.
It is worth emphasizing that back in January last year, Vladimir Putin noted the insistence of Governor Igor Rudeni in promoting the project in the highest power circles, because without the help of the federal center, such an idea cannot be realized. The President instructed Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin to prepare the necessary documents. Now that the funds have been allocated, we can talk about the actual start of construction.
Let us remind you that the Zapadny Bridge project includes three objects: the construction of an automobile bridge across the Volga, the reconstruction of the so-called Gorbaty bridge over the Oktyabrskaya railway in the Zavolzhsky district of Tver and the modernization of Komsomolskaya Square along with an overpass.
The Western Bridge will become a real salvation from traffic jams and will accelerate the development of the Zavolzhsky district of Tver, which is especially important in light of the construction of a medical cluster in the Gorbatka area.
Primary news
The political scene may well soon be lit up with a new star. Yulia Saranova, volunteer and head of the #We areTogether social project, has nominated herself to participate in the United Russia primaries. At the stage of primaries, there is a selection of those whom the party will nominate for elections to the State Duma. Julia received an offer to run for the federal representative body from fellow volunteers. It happened right at the meeting dedicated to the first anniversary of the social project, and it was a complete surprise for the girl.
It should be said that Yulia Saranova has been volunteering in the Tver region for more than 10 years and has proven herself well in this field. She started as a student activist and quickly grew to a project coordinator. In the difficult year of the coronavirus pandemic, the established network of volunteer contacts came in handy, so it was possible to quickly organize the delivery of food and medicine to needy pensioners and families in difficult life situations. What Yulia herself thinks about the elections to the State Duma and why the choice of volunteers fell on her, read on page 18.
By the way, any resident of the Tver region can apply for the primaries. This can be done until April 29, and the voting itself will take place from May 24 to May 30. Voters can express their will both offline, by personally coming to the polling station, and online – through the State Services portal.
Media meanings in Tver
On April 25, the sixth educational forum “Media Meanings” was held in Tver. It is held with the active participation of the regional branch of the Russian movement of schoolchildren, TvSTU, TvGU, as well as information support of the RIA Upper Volga media holding. 15 journalists from Tver, Moscow and St. Petersburg shared their professional experience with schoolchildren who arrived from all over the Tver region.
There were four information platforms at the forum: a lecture hall on journalism, a photo and video workshop and school media laboratories, as well as a platform dedicated to blogging. Of course, among the key speakers were the journalists of the RIA Upper Volga media holding. Dmitry Serov, Gleb Smolkov and Ekaterina Lamri talked about the cool travel series “I love the Upper Volga region.” While traveling around the cities of our region, the RIA team not only visited and filmed local sights, cuisine and natural beauties. Our travelers installed special art objects – signs that show virtual 3D images when hovering over a smartphone. The images were created especially for this trip by students of the Quantorium children’s technopark.
