At the end of last week in the Bronx there were six attacks on several synagogues. Broken or damaged glass in windows and doors, at which the vandal threw stones. In this regard, the police have increased the security of all Jewish religious institutions in the area. According to witnesses, the attacker is an African American of average height, more than 30 years old, judging by his accent, who grew up in America.
NYPD spokesman Sergeant Edward Riley has confirmed that an investigation is underway by detectives of the 50th division and the Hate Crime Task Force.
The Anti-Defamation League tweeted condemnation of anti-Semitic acts in the Bronx and urged residents of the area to provide law enforcement agencies with all known information that could help in the capture of the perpetrators.
A similar appeal is contained in an address by Mayor Bill de Blasio, who promised to take “swift and effective action against those who perpetrated the attack.”
Governor Cuomo also condemned the anti-Semitic trick.
“We will not tolerate any discriminatory actions that divide us, not unite us,” he said. “We stand with the Jews of New York, who are an important part of our state, as well as any victims of hatred and prejudice, and I hope the investigation will quickly bring results.”
