Batches of fake Pfizer / BioNTech vaccines were spotted last winter in Mexico and Poland. On Wednesday, April 21, the Wall Street Journal reported this with reference to Pfizer, as well as the authorities of these countries.
According to the newspaper, in January a fake vaccine was discovered in Poland. It contained hyaluronic acid and was supposed to be a wrinkle remedy. The drug was confiscated from the apartment of a private person, while no one had time to get it. A man who intended to sell a fake was charged with fraud.
In February, police in the Mexican state of Nuevo León detained six people after searching a clinic where they had been vaccinated with a fake vaccine: ampoules containing distilled water. At the same time, one dose cost about $ 1,000. Such “vaccinations” were received by about 80 people, no damage was done to their health.
In mid-March, it was reported that the Mexican authorities had seized a batch of fake Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. A batch of the drug was found at Campeche International Airport, where, according to preliminary data, it arrived from Honduras. 155 thousand vials were found, which are equivalent to 5775 doses.
In early March, South African and Chinese police officers seized thousands of doses of counterfeit COVID-19 vaccines.
