The Russian government will allocate 40 billion rubles for the construction of the Moscow-Kazan highway this year. The highway is planned to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2024. This was announced on Monday, April 19, by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin at an operational meeting with the Deputy Prime Ministers.

“40 billion rubles will be allocated for the construction of the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod-Kazan highway, it will become part of the Europe-Western China international corridor. And our task is to start using this road in the first quarter of 2024, ”Mishustin said.

In addition, according to the Prime Minister, in 2021 the Cabinet of Ministers will allocate 93 billion rubles for the development of the road network. 45 billion will be spent on the modernization of federal highways, and almost 8 billion rubles will be spent on the modernization of roads in five regions of the country.

The Moscow-Kazan high-speed highway with a length of more than 820 km will be opened in 2024. The transport highway project was presented by Avtodor at the Transport Week 2020 forum. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to introduce automated systems for traffic management, monitoring of weather conditions and traffic flow. Travel on the highway will be paid. A modern toll collection system will be installed on the road; drivers will not need to stop to drive through the barrier. The fee will be debited in a contactless way while driving.

On April 12, it became known that in Tatarstan in 2021, 12 billion rubles will be allocated for the implementation of the national project “Safe and High-Quality Highways”. According to the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Republic, according to the project, it is planned to put in order 218 km of highways. The total cost of all works will be 12.186 billion rubles. Most of them in the amount of 9.1 billion rubles were allocated from the federal budget. State contracts for works have been concluded for 90 objects.
