Classroom communication is so important in teaching that it’s nearly a definition of it. On several levels, however, the idea of classroom communication is a professor speaking to uninterested rows of students is inaccurate. That is not the case, and it is not the most efficient manner of communication.

Good academic outcomes are built on proper classroom communication. Studies show that professors who communicate well with their students have greater scores and retention levels, on the other hand poor classroom communication contributes to greater drop – out rates. A strong relationship between educators and students is the consequence of improved communication as well as a supportive environment:

It’s one that can help in overcoming learning hurdles in the classroom, like poor attitudes or unstable relations between students and teachers, by fostering bilateral communication environments that prioritise comprehension over issue expression.
Positive classroom communication can enhance behaviour and attitude, prevent social issues from arising in the school, and serve as a basis for psycho-social and affective learning. Students who can successfully communicate can speak for their own cognitive, emotional and psychological needs and are less likely to engage in undesirable behaviours such as acting out, disrespecting,demanding attention, detachment or turning out.

MySNHU is an online portal that allows students to access their academic records, grades, and other important information. My SNHU is specially designed for Southern New Hampshire University’s official students that allow students to access their records, schedule classes, and manage their academic information.
MyeClass is a web-based online portal designed for parents to check their children’s educational progress and share educational experiences on daily basis. With the MyeClass login page, parents can access grades and report cards, send messages to other parents, post photos and videos of their children, and more.
TTU Blackboard is the online web portal for the students of Texas Tech University to facilitate their students. Each student is awarded a unique Blackboard ttu account to check his course activities and grades.
Promoting classroom collaboration
Class communication does not happen by accident. It’s the result of effectively-structured instruction and beneficial interactions between educators and pupils, as well as between students and their classmates and between students and the institution. Students feel comfortable participating in classroom discussions, answering questions, and raising concerns when they feel safe, appreciated, and well-informed.
- Create a safe and sound environment for students
Physical safety is a factor in certain institutions, but it’s not the only one. It’s also about having a sense of social security. Teachers who employ aggressive, shame-based approaches to discipline children that put their hands up and get the answer wrong will be demoralised by such an aggressive tone of teacher (and no, that doesn’t mean telling children they’re correct when they aren’t). Teachers, on the other hand, aren’t the only ones with influence in a classroom.
Students are frequently subjected to severe peer influence, and instructors must find a means to counteract this so that students may focus on learning rather than protecting their identities in front of their peers. Teacher modelling, classroom organization, and close interpersonal communication between students and teachers can all help.
- Collaboration and group interaction
People who sincerely despise one another are unlikely to collaborate on an assignment based on how to promote your business on social media and become best friends, yet scepticism, distrust, and doubt can be dispelled in the achievement of shared goals. If there is a positive classroom environment, students can effectively learn from their classmates who are good at certain things which they didn’t realise they might do, and also that they would enjoy doing them.
- The importance of positive comments
If all they receive is harsh criticism — avoid doing that, this is incorrect — by this they’re learning that they are good for nothing. It seems like personal failure, which causes children to shut down, zone out, lash out, and give up. However, you cannot simply tell someone who believes two and two equals five that they are correct in order to avoid offending them. Correcting errors is an important element of a teacher’s work. So, how can educators talk in a pleasant, affirming manner while yet addressing mistakes and issues?
The ‘two stars and a wish’ strategy, which focuses on two positive aspects of a student’s performance and one area that may be improved, is one option. Teachers could also use the method to provide students feedback, or pupils can use it to evaluate their own or each other’s work. (If you’re feeling courageous, ask kids to do it for you…)
This strategy should not be interpreted as a technique to spare students’ feelings because they are unable to absorb criticism; rather, it should be viewed as a more beneficial means of communicating and alter work and behaviour. Positive feedback, in specific, could be used to create encouraging relationships with the students when we’re attempting to establish the ‘righteous circles’ of positive communication mentioned above, whereas educators who are reliant on negative comments are more likely to create conflictive student-teacher relationships. Various educational platforms create online courses on effective ways to communicate. It would be a good idea for mandating these courses as an eligibility criteria for teachers. As this would exponentially increase the quality of education and classroom environment offered by schools.
