The expulsion of Russian diplomats from Sweden, Germany and Poland is an unjustified and unfriendly move towards Moscow. As noted by the speaker of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, Moscow provided all the justifications for the expulsion of European diplomats because of their participation in uncoordinated actions.
However, the decisions of the three European countries “are a continuation of the very sequence of actions, actions that the West is taking” with respect to the Russian Federation. Moscow qualifies them as interference in internal affairs.
On the air of the Russia 1 TV channel, Zakharova noted that representatives of the European embassies and consulates were “caught red-handed.” For this they were declared persona non grata.
For several years, the West carried out actions to expel Russian employees of foreign missions, Zakharova recalled. However, no materials were handed over to the Russian side.
Russia, however, substantiated its decisions by providing an invoice and factual materials. “We said that this is not a political gesture, but a well-grounded decision with facts in hand,” the diplomat added.
