Mass industrial production of the coronavirus vaccine developed by the Vector Research Center is expected not earlier than the end of 2020. This was announced on Wednesday, July 29, by the head of the laboratory at the “Vector” center, Ilnaz Imatdinov.
“According to the data with which I am familiar, after the registration of vaccine preparations, industrial partners are ready to start industrial production. If I am not mistaken, this is either the end of this year, or the beginning of the next one, “Imatdinov said on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.
The day before, clinical trials of a vaccine against COVID-19 began at the State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology “Vector”. The first volunteer vaccinated is known to do well.
At the end of June, the general director of “Vector” Rinat Maksyutov said that a total of 300 volunteers will participate in clinical trials of the vaccine. In addition, the vaccine will be tested on four species of animals, rather than two as recommended.
Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, has already compared the development of a Russian vaccine against COVID-19 with the USSR’s launch of the first artificial Earth satellite.
As of July 29, 828,990 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Russia, 620,333 people were cured and 13,673 patients died.
