Russia and China were able to develop weapons capable of destroying American satellites orbiting Earth. This was stated by the commander of the US Space Force, Air Force General John Raymond.
According to The Washington Post, the American general recalled that space is also an area of warfare, like land, sea and air.
“Both China, which is our main threat, and Russia have developed weapons that can either disable our satellites, or destroy our satellites from Earth or from space, or through cyberspace,” the commander of the US Space Force emphasized.
According to Raymond, the goal of the US Space Force is to contain from a position of strength, without getting involved in a conflict.
“Our goal is, again, to contain this conflict. We do not want to get involved in a conflict that starts or spreads to space. We want to keep this area safe for everyone. ”
The general explained that the US Space Force is tracking about 30,000 objects in space, of which the vast majority is debris.
