Former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, Valeriy Chaly, said about the exhaustion of the possibilities of sanctions pressure from the West against Russia. He said this on the air of the TV channel “Apostrophe”.
“In the future, it is unlikely that we – both the Western world and Ukraine – will be able to find some tools that can only by means of pressure, by means of force, compel Russia to peace,” the diplomat said.
According to Chaly, Moscow will change its mind about the settlement in eastern Ukraine only if a “new conceptual approach” arises, associated with the formation of the security system of the EU and Ukraine after the end of the conflict in the region. Then Kiev will be able to “adapt the Minsk agreements to the needs of Ukraine,” the diplomat explained.
