Rep. Tom Reid (New York Republican) on Sunday announced that he would not run in 2022 after a former lobbyist accused him of sexual harassment.
The harassment of Nicolette Davis in 2017, then representing the insurance company, became known on March 19 thanks to The Washington Post. As noted by Davis, Reed was drunk and behaved inappropriately. Initially, the politician, in response to a question from the publication, said that this was an incorrect retelling of his actions.
He admitted that his behavior hurt the woman, showed disrespect for her, and was unprofessional. His words are quoted by the Axios portal. Reed apologized to his victim and family, admitting that he started alcohol addiction treatment in 2017.
