Two Tu-160s flew over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea

Two Russian strategic missile carriers – “White Swans” – TU-160 long-range aviation made a planned flight over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea, while Germany, Denmark and Finland were lifting fighters into the air to accompany them. This was reported on Tuesday, April 20, at the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“The flight was accompanied by fighters Su-35s of the aerospace forces and Su-27 naval aviation of the Navy … At certain stages of the route, Russian strategic missile carriers were accompanied by fighters Eurofighter Typhoon of the German Air Force, F-16 of the Danish Air Force, F-18 of the Finnish Air Force” , – reported in the department.

At the same time, it was specified that the flight duration was eight hours. The ministry also noted that long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Black and Baltic Seas, and the Pacific Ocean.

Flights of aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces are carried out in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.

Earlier in March, it became known that two Tu-160s flew over the waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas. It was noted that the fighter escort was provided by the crews of the MiG-31 aircraft of the naval aviation of the Russian Navy.

In January, two Tu-160s performed a planned flight over the neutral waters of the Arctic Ocean, the Barents and White Seas. The flight duration was about 14 hours.
