The whereabouts of two people after overturning the Scorpion fishing trawler, which is being built at the Pella plant in St. Petersburg, has not yet been established. This was announced on Tuesday, March 30, at the North-Western Investigation Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
The department clarified that two people were injured as a result of the incident. They were hospitalized with rib fractures. Six more got off the ship on their own.
On the fact of the incident, a criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Violation of safety rules during construction or other work.”
The incident took place earlier Tuesday. The lead fishing trawler of project 1701 “Scorpion” overturned next to the small missile ship “Karakurt”, created for the Russian Navy. The warship was not damaged.
Fire and rescue units were immediately sent to the place of emergency. Upon arrival, it was established that as a result of the roll, the holds were flooded. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the vessel is currently stabilized. He is being examined by diving groups.
The press service of the government of the Leningrad region later clarified that as a result of the incident, two people were injured. However, according to local authorities, they received assistance on the spot and did not require hospitalization.
