Turkey has registered a new record for daily mortality from coronavirus – 318 deaths, reported on April 19 on the website of the Turkish Ministry of Health.
This is the highest rate since the start of the pandemic.
Over the past day, 55 802 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the country, more than 43 thousand people have recovered.
In total, during the coronavirus pandemic, more than 4.2 million cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the country, more than 3.6 million patients have recovered, and 35,926 people have died.
Earlier, on April 12, Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Hoxha said that the growth in the incidence in the republic is influenced by “two important negative factors” – “uncertainty fatigue” and virus mutations.
On April 18, 62.6 thousand cases of infection were detected in the country. In terms of the daily increase in cases, Turkey is in fourth place in the world after India, the United States and Brazil.
Due to the worsening epidemiological situation in Turkey, Russia suspended flights with this country from April 15 to June 1.
As of April 18, 40 thousand organized and 50 thousand independent and transit Russian tourists are on vacation in Turkey.
In Turkey, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova pointed out, there is the highest incidence of coronavirus among the countries with which Russia has opened air traffic. 80% of Russians who are sick with COVID-19 came from Turkey.
