Ankara announced plans to conduct joint control with Azerbaijan over the implementation of the agreement to end the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was announced on Tuesday, November 10, by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
“An armistice was signed between the three countries yesterday evening. Now the question is how this will be tracked and controlled. Our negotiations on these issues are ongoing. We will carry out the next process together. We will be with Azerbaijan, ”Hurriyet quotes Cavusoglu.
In his opinion, it was Armenia that was the party that started the war. The Turkish Foreign Minister also stressed that Ankara “will continue to follow the development of events on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.”
The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a statement on the cessation of hostilities in Karabakh. The Russian leader expressed hope that the document will create conditions for the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Earlier on Monday, 12 Russian military transport aircraft flew to Karabakh. The personnel of the peacekeeping mission, armored personnel carriers and other materiel are on board.
Aliyev stated that the settlement of the situation in the region meets the interests of both the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples.
The head of the Armenian government, Pashinyan, said that he had no choice but to sign an agreement. His actions sparked protests in Yerevan.
