Former Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchinov said that the head of state, Volodymyr Zelensky, has opportunities for an offensive and invasion of the territory of the Republic of Crimea. He stated this during an opposition rally in honor of the Independence Day of Ukraine, which is celebrated on August 24, writes “RIA Novosti”.
It is noted that in his speech, Turchynov commented on Zelensky’s speech in honor of the holiday, who said that “those who donated part of the territory without a fight will testify, and not preach about patriotism.”
Turchinov himself added that he was ready to help the president in implementing an offensive on the peninsula. He said that Viktor Yanukovych is one of the guilty parties for the loss of the peninsula, and also said that for Zelensky, an agreement with Moscow is more important than “protecting the Ukrainian land.”
On July 24, the ex-head of the Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchinov, also expressed his readiness to storm the peninsula, which is why Russia doubted his mental health.
Crimea returned to Russia in 2014 following a referendum in which 96.77% of the peninsula’s residents voted for reunification. Kiev refuses to recognize the voting results and is making plans to “return” the region.
