The incumbent US President Donald Trump, during a speech to supporters in the state of Georgia, reiterated that he was winning the presidential election.
According to the BBC, in his speech, he also once again accused the representatives of the US Democratic Party of vote rigging, adding that hundreds of thousands of illegal votes were cast in all American states.
The president added that it would “easily and quickly” win the electoral votes in Georgia if the authorities verified voters’ signatures on mailed ballots.
Earlier on December 5, in a series of tweets, Trump appealed to the authorities of the state of Georgia to demand the convening of a local legislature to audit the past presidential elections.
Earlier that day, it became known that Trump’s headquarters would dispute the election results in the state of Georgia. According to preliminary data, the Republican lost in Georgia and its 16 electors went to Democrat Joe Biden, the votes were counted twice.
At the end of November, the American leader announced that he would recognize Biden’s victory in the elections if the electoral college votes for his opponent, and the Democratic candidate himself can prove that he received all the votes honestly. The Republican tried to challenge the election results in courts, but was unable to achieve this.
The US presidential election was held on November 3. According to media reports, Biden is ahead of Trump in the number of popular votes and the number of electoral votes.
