Thriller TV shows contribute to an increase in the adrenaline rush. Those engrossing, epic chasing scenes and suspense provide the best visual experience possible. In addition, these shows keep the audience’s interest piqued and their hearts rushing all the time.

In terms of storytelling, directors have long utilized and leveraged the thriller domain to tell an avid and electrifying story. For instance, take the show Blade Runner from the 1980s, or think of the “Ozark” of this world today. These examples prove that any era can produce good thrillers twisted with the right essence.

On that note, here are seven thriller shows that need to be on your watchlist this year.

Suspicion, a new thriller, was premiered on Apple TV shows on Friday, January 28. Uma Thurman, a businesswoman whose son was kidnapped from a hotel, is the show’s main lead. After her son’s disappearance, four ordinary people who happened to be in the same place at the mishappening are the suspects investigated by the FBI.

However, the suspects, Kunal Nayyar, Georgina Campbell, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Tom Rhys-Harries, all plead their innocence. As the episode progresses, new motives and evidence emerge, shifting the focus of guilt from one character to the next.

The first season has eight episodes, the first two of which were accessible on February 4.

Ozark is a crime drama series written by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams. It tells the story of a married couple who move to the lake of the Ozarks with their children to establish a money-laundering operation.

This award-winning series revolves around the underworld of a Missouri town, focusing on the lead’s dramatic situations. Martin “Marty” Byrde, a financial counselor involved with a Mexican drug cartel, finds himself in over his head. Wendy, Marty’s wife, has to deal with the consequences of her husband’s desperate decisions.

The series “You” involves a bookstore manager’s story who follows his obsession with an ideal girl. The main lead,” Beck,” was excellently played by the actor Pen Badgley. This series is a mixture of thriller, drama, and horror. However, it’s incredibly romantic when it comes to Joe and Beck’s relationship in the entire show. Also with great celebrities.

There are three seasons in the entire series. It all starts when Joe meets Beck in a bookstore, after which he feeds his toxic obsession by tracking her via social media technology. As the series unfolds, you’ll find yourself at the edge of your seat with a bloodier plot and complex coverups.

Squid Game

Squid Game is another thriller series that lives up to its hype. The show is based on a series of survival games where adults compete for money. The catch is that you will die if you lose. The show accurately depicts how desperate one can be for survival.

Squid Games was instantly a hit on Netflix, debuting at No. 2 on the first day after its release. Two days later, it was at the top of the charts.

If you’re a thriller lover, this is a must-watch.

Dark is the first German-language original series highly appreciated for its mind-bending sci-fi thrillers that will shock your concept of the cosmos. With three seasons, it follows the bond between four families to unknot the time travel plot, which passes over several generations.

Dark was exceptionally well received for its tone, aesthetics, performance, casting, musical soundtrack, and the ambition and depth of its story. The show was voted the 58th greatest TV series of the twenty-first century by BBC Culture in 2021.

Money Heist

Money Heist is the most popular thriller heist series with intense emotional beats and clever techniques. It’s such a well-written show that you can’t help but fall in love with even the most unappealing characters. The series follows the Professor’s two long-planned heists, one on the Royal Mint of Spain and the other on the Bank of Spain, when seen through the eyes of one of the robbers, Tokyo.

At the 46th International Emmy Prizes, Money Heist won multiple awards, including the International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series.

Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad is among those few thriller shows that have captured public interest. The show follows the story of Walter White, an underpaid and overqualified high-school chemistry teacher who is dealing with a stage-three lung cancer diagnosis. While facing the criminal underworld, Walter accompanies his student Jesse Pinkman to manufacture and distribute crystal meth to secure his family’s financial security before he passes away.

The show has won 16 Primetime Emmy Awards, eight Satellite Awards, two Golden Globes, two Peabody Awards, two Critics’ Choice Awards, and four Television Critics Association Awards. This highly decorated series must be on top of your watchlist.
