Those who bought tickets from the travel company Thomas Cook can apply to the federal government for compensation for the canceled trip by Sunday. The timing of the registration of the application on the relevant online portals is critical, – said the Federal Ministry of Justice in Berlin. If documents cannot be sent by Sunday, they can be sent later. We are talking specifically about registering an application for compensation.

At the current moment, 97.3 thousand applications have been registered. A further 17,000 are in the process of registration. In 26,400 cases the applicants received a positive response. About 39.17 million euros have already been paid or will be paid soon. All important information can be found at www.bmjv.de/thomas-cook, according to the Ministry of Justice. If you have any questions, you can also get answers by calling 03 61/60 66 70 12 on weekdays from 8:00 to 18:00, you can also call the hotline.

German subsidiary Thomas Cook, which suffered from the bankruptcy of its British parent company, filed for bankruptcy on September 25 last year. The company canceled all booked trips, even those that had already been paid for – in whole or in part.

The federal government in December decided to reimburse injured tourists for some of the costs that were not covered by insurance companies. However, the condition for compensation is a timely demand for payment, sent to the insolvency manager Thomas Cook and to the insurance company.
