Thief-climber robbed St. Petersburg residents for 20 million

St. Petersburg police uncovered a series of burglaries committed by a mountaineer thief. This is stated on January 30 in a message on the website of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to law enforcement officers, a 38-year-old local resident committed the theft with the use of climbing equipment. The suspect committed at least 15 thefts, the victims estimated the damage from his actions at 20 million rubles.

The Petersburg resident was detained on January 21. “The man was also on the federal wanted list as he escaped from court for theft,” the head office noted.

The thefts were committed between February 2020 and January this year. Three apartments at once became the objects of theft in a house on Krasnoputilovskaya in one day, and two in a house on Vyborgskoye Highway.

The detainee climbed the multi-storey buildings with climbing equipment and broke the double-glazed windows. Once he entered an apartment on the 17th floor.

His prey was cash, equipment, jewelry, watches, bank cards. Based on the facts of these incidents, criminal cases of theft were initiated. Partially stolen was recovered.
