Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said the United States will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine so that it is capable of self-defense. We are talking about the continuation of the supply of certain types of weapons and about sending American military instructors to the country.

“We have been providing material support to Ukraine for some time. This includes non-combat gear, some types of weapons, and a number of military instructors that we sent to help Ukraine. We plan to continue doing this based on its needs, ”he said at a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on April 14, RIA Novosti writes.

Earlier on Wednesday, Blinken at a meeting with Stoltenberg agreed that NATO should continue to support Ukraine. The parties also discussed “an aggressive build-up of military power along the borders of Ukraine and in the occupied Crimea.”

On April 11, Blinken said the White House was concerned about the fact that “more Russian forces are concentrated on the border between Russia and Ukraine than at any time since 2014”.

In turn, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that the movement of Russian troops across the country should not bother other states, since it does not threaten them in any way.

Since 2014, Kiev has been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities blame Russia for the current situation. Moscow has repeatedly noted that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict. The issues of its settlement are being discussed in the “Minsk” and “Normandy” formats – with the participation of Ukraine, Russia, France, Germany.
