American President Joe Biden has banned flights to India due to the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus in this country.
Over the past 24 hours, India has recorded 360,960 new cases of COVID-19 infection, a world record.
For the entire time of the coronavirus pandemic, 17,997,267 people were recorded in the world infected with this infection. Over the past day in India, the number of deaths has also increased – by 3293 – to 201187.
According to Biden, India “is registering more than a third of new infections from around the world.” He noted that proactive measures are required to protect the health of the country’s population from travelers from India to the United States.
Biden’s signed restrictions on entry into the United States (except for Americans) will take effect on May 4.
