American destroyers “Donald Cook” and “Roosevelt” on Wednesday, April 14, suspended their movement to the Black Sea, sources told Izvestia in the military department.

It is noted that the ships changed their route and entered the island of Crete, after which they remained there during the day.

It was originally planned that they will pass the Bosporus and Dardanelles on April 14-15, and then return back on May 5.

It is not known what the further route of the destroyers will be – they will either continue their journey or remain in the Mediterranean Sea.

Experts believe that the delay in the visit of American warships can be regarded as a result of telephone conversations between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, which took place the day before.

According to experts, the delay in the destroyers will indicate a de-escalation of the situation in the region.
