In Russia, it is necessary to raise the age limit to 21 years to obtain a license to own and use weapons, State Duma deputy Anatoly Vyborny told Izvestia.
According to him, after discussing the issue with experts from the Public Chamber and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the legislative initiative will be submitted to the State Duma.
Anatoly Vyborny added that it is also necessary to strengthen the system of control over the owners of weapons.
– From the moment the license is issued online, the regulatory authorities must monitor the situation. And if the owners of weapons were repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for violation of public order during the year, were registered due to alcohol and drug addiction, they should automatically lose their license, and the weapon should be seized, the parliamentarian said.
This decision was made after the tragedy near Nizhny Novgorod, where on October 12, 18-year-old Daniil Monakhov opened fire, killing three people and wounding three more. He received the right to arms only three weeks ago.
