In Belarus, the Prosecutor General’s Office proposed to the Ministry of Communications and Informatization to block the Golos website, which deals with alternative counting of votes in the presidential elections. Marina Popova, the head of the department for supervision over the observance of the rights and freedoms of citizens of the Prosecutor General’s Office, told about this on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel.

Before that, President Alexander Lukashenko ordered to assess the legality of such an alternative calculation.

Lidia Yermoshina, chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, called the Golos platform a “criminal project”. In her opinion, the purpose of the founders of this site is to organize riots. Yermoshina stressed that only one organization exercises control over the expression of will, and that is the Central Election Commission. The head of the department considers the Golos platform to be a political scam and a “shadow Central Election Commission.”

Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office said that the online platforms Golos and Zubr.in are not accredited to collect such data. They violate Article 9.28 of the Administrative Code of the Republic and can be brought to justice.

The main day of the presidential elections in Belarus is set for August 9. At the present moment, a third of Belarusians have already slashed ahead of schedule. The current president, Alexander Lukashenko, Andrey Dmitriev, Anna Kanopatskaya, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and Sergei Cherecheni, were nominated as candidates for the post of head of state.
