In the Komi Republic by 2023, the number of small and medium-sized businesses will be 9.6 thousand units. The number of employees will be 55.1 thousand people. The relevant data are given in the forecast of the socio-economic development of the region for 2021 and for the period until 2023, published on the Komi legal portal.

By the end of 2020, a decrease in the number of entrepreneurs is expected. If last year there were 9,931 of them, then at the end of 2020 their number will be 9,425. The number of employees will be 53.1 thousand people, according to IA “Komiinform”.

According to the assessment, the turnover of small and medium-sized businesses will decrease by 4.6% compared to last year and will amount to 159.1 billion rubles. This is due to the suspension of the activities of many organizations during the coronavirus pandemic.

To support business, measures are envisaged at the federal and regional levels. These are various subsidies, extension of tax payment deadlines, reduction of rates for insurance premiums, credit holidays and much more.

According to experts’ forecasts, a number of factors, influencing the decline in entrepreneurial activity, remain in effect in the republic. Among them are both general – in the form of a decrease in the population in the region and the employed population, and an increased social burden on business and the associated need to provide “northern benefits”. Additional factors include an increase in the value added tax, which resulted in higher prices and ultimately affected sales, as well as an increase in the minimum wage and an increase in the fiscal burden.
