The number of crimes in the field of information and telecommunication technologies in January 2021 in Russia increased by 32% compared to the same period last year. This is evidenced by the statistics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, which RT got acquainted with.
In total, during this period, 37.2 thousand of such crimes were registered. With the use of the Internet, the growth was 51.3%, and the number of crimes with the help of mobile communication increased by 39%.
At the same time, in January 2020, the share of crimes in the field of high technologies of the total number was 17.7%, but in the first month of this year it increased to 25%.
It is also reported that the largest number of crimes was recorded in Moscow, the Murmansk region, Chuvashia, as well as in the Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Districts. At the same time, the largest increase was recorded in North Ossetia and amounted to 87%.
On March 9, experts in the field of information security said that fraudsters find vulnerabilities in the software of credit institutions and through them penetrate the mobile applications of customer banks.
