The Russian authorities have pledged funds to support the economy in the draft federal budget for 2021, there is no talk of additional measures yet. This was announced on Monday, October 26, by Finance Minister Anton Siluanov in an interview with Naila Asker-zade on the Russia 24 TV channel.

“Until the end of this year, we have decisions within the framework of the national plan for economic recovery, this plan will be in effect next year, and the necessary resources are also provided for next year. I would like to hope that we will be able to get by with those planned decisions and will not take any additional unplanned measures, ”the minister said.

Siluanov noted that, if necessary, additional funds will be found by the same methods as in the current year.

“If we need additional resources, we will look, as we did this year, by increasing borrowing, by redistributing priorities within our budget, we will also look for revenue sources,” he added.

Earlier, on October 23, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin discussed with the Deputy Head of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev a draft of a new three-year budget for 2021 and for the planning period of 2022 and 2023. The most important issues related to funding priorities were considered.

On October 6, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that the priorities of the federal budget for 2021–2023 will be the fulfillment of social obligations and ensuring the country’s development.

The bill on the federal budget for 2021 and for the planning period 2022 and 2023 was submitted to the State Duma for consideration in September. It was developed on the basis of the basic version of the forecast of socio-economic development.
