For safe ice skating in open water, the ice thickness must be at least 25 cm. On Saturday, November 28, specialists from the Russian Emergencies Ministry recalled.

At the same time, the safe ice thickness for the passage of cars is at least 35 cm.

“The safe thickness of ice for one person is at least 10 cm, for ice skating – at least 25 cm, for cars – at least 35 cm”, – TASS quotes the press service of the department.

You can determine the thickness of the ice on the reservoir by its shade. So, transparent ice with a bluish or greenish tint is considered strong. At the same time, the exit of vehicles on the ice before the opening of the crossing is extremely dangerous and prohibited, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

It will be reported that at the moment in most regions of the country there is a period of ice formation and due to the unstable temperature on the water bodies, thin ice predominates. According to the latest data, only 50 ice crossings out of 1,000 are open in the country.

On the eve it became known that from November 27 in Yakutia on the federal highway “Vilyui” opened three ice crossings – in the area of Verkhnevilyuisk, the village of Kyundyadya and the village of Ustye. Driving onto the ice was allowed for vehicles weighing up to 4 tons.
