During the Caucasus-2020 exercise, military engineers, together with the units of the RChBZ of the Southern Military District, stopped the breakthrough of the armored vehicles of the simulated enemy, who launched an attack.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, at the Ashuluk training ground in the Astrakhan region, servicemen placed fire bombs and anti-tank mines in a checkerboard pattern, after which they lured enemy tanks.

The “Firewall” helped to effectively protect the site – the technique was almost impossible to use due to the artificially created burning mass.

“In total, about 70 units of special equipment and over 500 servicemen of engineering-sapper and flamethrower units were involved in the training and practical actions of specialists of the NBC protection and engineering troops of the Southern Military District,” the military department said.

Earlier it was reported that within the framework of the Caucasus-2020 exercise, servicemen practiced highly mobile defense with the participation of motorized rifle units with the support of artillery.

On September 21, the strategic exercises “Kavkaz-2020” began in the Southern Military District. More than 80 thousand people have been involved in them. The main maneuvers will take place at the Prudboy, Ashuluk, Kapustin Yar training grounds, as well as at the Arzgirsky and Kopansky air training grounds.
