Only a court can accuse and find a citizen guilty. So on Thursday, March 25, the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov answered the question of a journalist about awareness of the case of the head of the group of pharmaceutical companies “Biotech” Boris Shpigel.
In addition, according to him, every case that concerns the restriction of a citizen’s freedom is not easy.
“We have seen reports that Spiegel is in very poor health,” he said.
Peskov stressed that the medical services that are in the remand prison should and can provide the entrepreneur with the necessary assistance.
On the eve of Der Spiegel felt bad in the courthouse, where he was supposed to choose a preventive measure. The businessman had to put on an IV, after the procedure, the pressure stabilized. Spiegel was taken from the courtroom by an ambulance.
The businessman’s lawyers asked the court, if a measure of restraint was chosen for Spiegel, to appoint him house arrest, arguing that he was sick with a severe form of thromboembolism and for health reasons could not be in jail. The court rejected the request and arrested the businessman until May 20 in the case of giving a bribe to the governor of the Penza region, Ivan Belozertsev.
Also in custody for two months were imprisoned employee of the Penza region in Moscow Gennady Markov and deputy head of the Penza region under the government of the Russian Federation Fedor Fedotov.
On March 22, the Governor of the Penza Region and other defendants in the criminal case were formally charged with taking and giving bribes. The suspects did not admit their guilt. According to the investigation, from January to September 2020, Belozertsev received bribes from Spiegel, his wife and director of OJSC Pharmacy, Anton Koloskov, through intermediaries in the amount of 31 million rubles.
