The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova urged not to take children to the south due to the increase in infections with coronavirus infection, and also recommended that protective masks be worn in public transport. She stated this in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, published on Thursday, October 8.

She recalled that a seasonal rise in the incidence is noted throughout the world and in Russia.

“I doubt it would be the right decision to go south with the child. This is also transport, this is also flights … Probably, spending this time with the child at home or, if possible, somewhere in the country in the fresh air – that would be the best option, ”said Popova.

Speaking about the New Year holidays, the head of the department noted that different countries assess the new tourist season differently. According to Popova, for Russia the experience “on internal displacement was incredibly successful” and it could be used, but the circumstances with the epidemiological situation will be understood “a little later.”

Earlier that day, the assistant to the head of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Alexei Kuznetsov, said that the department recommends that Russians spend the coming weekend at home due to the spread of coronavirus, as well as refuse to visit public places and limit the use of public transport.

In addition, the Kremlin said that the statistics of the daily increase in new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia is a reason for the internal mobilization of every resident of the country. The Kremlin called on Russians to draw the necessary conclusions and observe epidemiological safety measures, including wearing masks.
