Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a government meeting on August 27 that the Cabinet had allocated about 5 billion rubles for the development of the road network in the regions.

“Today, about 5 billion rubles have been allocated for these purposes. Most of these funds – about 3.5 billion rubles – will go to improve the road network in cities and towns within the framework of the national project “Safe and High-Quality Highways,” Mishustin said.

The allocated funds will help accelerate the achievement of the results planned for 2021, as well as launch new projects in Magnitogorsk and Tyumen.

Earlier, on August 15, the Russian government allocated more than 6 billion rubles to Rosavtodor from the Reserve Fund for the repair and modernization of roads in the regions of the country.

In particular, 1.2 billion rubles were allocated under the state program “Development of the transport system until 2020”. The money will be used to repair regional, intermunicipal and local roads.

Rosavtodor must, within a month, conclude agreements with the entities on the provision of these funds and monitor their use.

Earlier, on August 4, the Accounts Chamber proposed to the Cabinet of Ministers to revise the financial costs for the maintenance of federal highways. The audit revealed that the maintenance of 1 km of the federal road network in 2019 took 2.2 million rubles.
