US President Joe Biden’s address to Congress creates a sense of a split in American thinking, Russian Federation Council member Konstantin Kosachev commented. On his Facebook, he wrote that the American leader made an interesting statement, noting that “the main terrorist threat to the United States comes from white racists from within the country.” However, such an interpretation “is unlikely to reconcile a divided American society.”
Also, the vice-speaker of the Federation Council said that Biden’s address to Congress creates a sense of a split in American thinking. In this case, one part of them is formed by common sense, and the other by radicals from the special services and Congress.
According to him, these radicals continue to “invent mythical threats from the outside and intimidate the population, including the president, with the impending collapse of American democracy and the leading positions of the United States in the world.”
At the same time, the senator noted that it is also important that Biden states that there is no desire to escalate with Russia, as well as the need for equal rules of the game in the economy for everyone, including China. He is also ready to use diplomacy in relations with Iran and the DPRK.
True, these encouraging statements in each case were accompanied by “accompanying conditions and threats to use force if they were not fulfilled.” And Kosachev also stressed that such “outward-directed radicalism may well be comparable to terrorism, which captures the minds of people.” He also pointed to the internal actions of “racists in the United States, trashing monuments and exciting museums.”
Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that the United States does not want an escalation of relations with Russia. Nevertheless, the “interference” and cyberattacks prescribed to the Russian side have consequences.
