The head of the international committee of the Federation Council, Grigory Karasin, said that Ukraine’s line on exacerbating the situation in Donbass as a means of pressure on France and the FRG is dangerous.

“It seems irresponsible and dangerous Kiev’s current line on aggravating the Donbass as a way to put pressure on Berlin and Paris to support the revision of the Minsk agreements,” he told reporters on Monday, April 5.

Karasin stressed that instead of taking responsibility for the obligations under this package of documents, Ukraine “continues to seek out roundabout maneuvers.”

According to the senator, attempts by Western capitals to use the “Ukrainian card” in the geopolitical game against Russia are a serious obstacle.

“It is a pity that the cave nationalist ideology is being adopted, which has already led our continent to two world wars,” TASS quotes Karasin.

Earlier that day, it became known that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy this week will discuss the aggravation of the situation in Donbass with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.

On April 4, the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) reported that a civilian was injured by an explosive device. It was dropped by Ukrainian security forces from an unmanned aerial vehicle.

On April 3, it became known that for the first time since July 27, 2020, after the entry into force of additional armistice measures in Donbas, Ukrainian security forces used artillery pieces prohibited by the Minsk agreements during shelling of the LPR.

Since 2014, Kiev has been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup and the new government in Ukraine. The issue of resolving the situation is being discussed, among other things, at the meetings of the contact group in Minsk.
