The father of the President of Turkmenistan dies

The father of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov, died at the age of 90. This was announced on Sunday, April 18, by the country’s State News Agency.

“The Turkmen people took this bitter news with deep sorrow, the memory of the faithful son of the Fatherland Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov will remain in our hearts forever,” the message says.

Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov was born in the village of Birleshik-1 of the Geoktepe etrap on August 12, 1932. He started his career as a librarian and then taught in the elementary grades.

In the period from 1958 to 1982 he worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he held various positions in the cities of Dashoguz, Mary and Ashgabat. He was the commander of the group, the chief of the detachment, headed the duty unit, the personnel department, received the position of chief of staff, the site notes. He retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel and continued teaching. Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov worked at the National Institute of Education, the Scientific Research Institute of Pedagogical Sciences and the Education Department of the city of Ashgabat.

His name was given to the capital’s military unit No. 1001, as well as to the Choganly residential complex of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the capital etrap Bagtyyarlyk, the website writes. In 2012, a lifetime monument was unveiled to Berdimuhamedov in the village of Yzgant in the Akhal region.
