A group of tourists, caught in an avalanche in the Khibiny of the Murmansk region, was taken out of the mountainous area and placed in a sanatorium in Apatity. This was announced on Tuesday, March 23rd, by the TV channel “360” with reference to Dmitry Plotnikov, Acting Head of the Regional Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia.
In addition to the injured tour group, rescuers also evacuated another group of tourists who were moving along the same route: its leader decided to stop moving, the website kp.ru writes. In total, Rescuers in the Murmansk region evacuated 38 people who were in the area where the avalanche had previously descended, writes RT. Among them are 31 minors.
Earlier, eight tourist groups from St. Petersburg on the routes were recalled from the Khibiny.
According to Plotnikov, all-round support of the participants of the tourist group has been organized. Throughout the entire journey from the Imandra station to the Apatitov station, the victims were accompanied by a psychologist from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
He noted that search and rescue units are returning to their permanent deployment points.
The Governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, thanked the participants in the operation to rescue children from the Khibiny.
“I would like to thank Russian Railways for organizing the train, doctors, psychologists, and I would like to express special gratitude to the rescuers who have been in the mountains for almost a day. The road that they built to ensure the evacuation of the children. This is a real feat! ”- quotes his words REGNUM.
Tourists were hit by an avalanche on March 22 during a ski trip in the Khibiny. As a result of the collapse of the snow cornice near the village of Imandra, a girl born in 2008 was seriously injured. It was not possible to save her, the Zvezda TV channel notes. At the scene there was a tourist group consisting of three adults and 13 children.
Earlier on March 23, two criminal cases were initiated into the incident in the Khibiny. The first was initiated upon the death of a girl as a result of an avalanche under the article on the provision of services that did not meet safety requirements, which inadvertently resulted in the death of a child. The second criminal case was initiated under the article on negligence.
