The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, speaking to reporters at the end of the online summit, said that the European Union is ready to share its own vaccine against coronavirus with partner countries. At the same time, she stressed that the number of vaccine doses will be limited.
“The creation of a European mechanism will allow the allocation of a part of the vaccines pre-ordered by the European Union for partner states … On the one hand, the EU actively supports the COVAX fund, created to provide vaccines to low and middle income countries …. And the EU mechanism will allow member states to donate part of the vaccine doses ordered by them for partner countries, “said von der Leyen, adding that such partners, for example, are the states of the Western Balkans.
