The record number of deaths per day due to coronavirus is recorded for the third day in a row in Ukraine. Health Minister Maxim Stepanov announced this on his Facebook page.
According to him, 362 people have died in the past 24 hours, 342 patients died a day earlier.
During the day, 16,669 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the country, this was the highest rate since the beginning of the pandemic in the country and 17.6% more than the previous day, when the virus was confirmed in 14,174 people.
As Stepanov specified, 786 children and 446 health workers fell ill. During the same period, 4,838 people were hospitalized in hospitals, 6,748 recovered. In total, 1,646,682 cases of coronavirus were detected in the country.
The largest number of confirmed cases was registered in Kiev, Odessa and Zhytomyr regions.
The day before, the Verkhovna Rada said that the situation with the coronavirus in Ukraine is close to critical, and there are several weeks left before the peak of the third wave of COVID-19. The leaders in the number of hospitalizations and deaths associated with coronavirus remain Ivano-Frankivsk, Transcarpathian and Chernivtsi regions.
As Gazeta.ru notes, the Ukrainian authorities have decided to allow citizens who have a certificate of negative coronavirus test results to cross the country’s border. The decree entered into force on March 22.
