The Tverskoy Court in Moscow sentenced Elena Platon to 10 years in a general regime colony, who was involved in the withdrawal of more than 126 billion rubles from Russia.
Elena Platon was previously a top manager at Moldindconbank. She is also the sister of the well-known Moldovan businessman Veaceslav Platon, the owner of the aforementioned bank. He is accused in absentia, along with the de facto leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Vladimir Plahotniuc, of organizing a criminal community and illegally withdrawing large sums of money from Russia. The Moldovan politician Renato Usatii is also involved in this case. All of them are on the international wanted list.
Elena Platon was arrested in Moscow in May 2019.
