Ten EU countries have suspended the use of the coronavirus vaccine, created by AstraZeneca in collaboration with the University of Oxford, amid reports of possible blood clots in those vaccinated.
The Austrian authorities were the first to suspend the use of the drug after one of the vaccinated patients died, and the other developed pulmonary embolism – a blockage of the vessel by a torn off blood clot.
After that, countries such as Denmark, Norway and Iceland took a pause in the use of the vaccine. In addition, the use of the problematic party AstraZeneca was banned by Estonia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Cyprus and Latvia. Later, Italy also banned one party.
It is noted that the pause in the use of the drug will last until the European Medicines Agency (EMA) clarifies whether the vaccine really causes blood clots, writes RIA Novosti.
On March 11, a case of thrombosis after vaccination was detected in the Netherlands. As stated in the Lareb center, the patient was not injured, he did not need hospitalization. The investigation of the incident will continue.
Earlier, on March 3, in Estonia, an employee of the rescue department died after being vaccinated with the drug AstraZeneca. On the same day, it became known that in South Korea, after being vaccinated with the same drug, two patients, aged 50 and 63, died. Doctors are investigating whether the death of two people could be associated with the action of the vaccine.
