State Aviation Service of Ukraine instructed not to release Medvedchuk to Russia

The State Aviation Service of Ukraine received an order not to release aircraft to Russia with the chairman of the political council of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk. This was announced on Thursday, January 21, by his fellow party member Ilya Kiva.

“The State Aviation Service received the command to“ block ”the sky for the planes that Medvedchuk uses for flights to Russia,” the politician wrote on his Telegram channel.

At the same time, the press service of Medvedchuk said there was no such information, TASS reports.

On January 18, Medvedchuk predicted that relations between Ukraine and Russia would recover, despite opposition from Kiev, as the residents of both states want.

In October 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Medvedchuk. The parties talked at the residence of the Russian leader in Novo-Ogaryovo. During the talks, Putin promised that Moscow would do everything possible to restore Russian-Ukrainian relations, and also praised Medvedchuk’s position on the issue of normalizing relations between the two countries at all levels.

After that, the head of the Russian government Mikhail Mishustin met with the Ukrainian deputy, the parties discussed the restoration of relations between Russia and Ukraine.

In early September, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine opened a criminal case of treason due to the trip of MPs from the Opposition Platform – For Life party to negotiations in the State Duma in March 2020. The case was initiated against Medvedchuk, Taras Kozak, Renat Kuzmin, Alexander Koltunovich, Tatiana Plachkova and Vadim Rabinovich
