The return of children to schools from the extended autumn holidays in Moscow on October 19 will depend on the epidemic situation in the city. This was announced on Thursday, October 1, by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on the Vesti program on the Russia 1 TV channel.
“This will, of course, depend on the development of the epidemic situation,” he said, answering the relevant question.
According to the mayor, the wave of coronavirus in the capital is growing.
A day earlier, Anastasia Rakova, deputy mayor of the capital for social development, explained the need for long vacations for schoolchildren. According to her, since the beginning of the school year, the incidence of coronavirus among children has increased in the capital, so now it is important to “separate them” in order to minimize the risks for students and their relatives.
On September 29, Sobyanin announced a vacation for Moscow schoolchildren from October 5 to 18. This is due to the increase in the number of colds and cases of COVID-19.
