Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu arrived with an inspection of troops in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. As the correspondent of “MK” reports, on Tuesday Shoigu checked the progress of infrastructure construction in the main base of the latest nuclear missile carriers of the Yasen-M and Borey-A projects.

The new submarines will soon enter service with the Pacific Fleet. Shoigu ordered to complete the construction of new facilities in Vilyuchinsk by the end of 2020. He instructed the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, and the Commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Sergei Avakyants, to make the base in Vilyuchinsk an exemplary one and to liquidate the old communications that have served their time.

It is planned that Shoigu on Tuesday will hear the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy on the progress of combat training, as well as check the work of the multifunctional medical center. The medical center was built as soon as possible – from March 20 to May 15 – to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the region. The 60-bed hospital accepts patients infected with coronavirus, including civilians.
