Specialists of the Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences studied scientific works on the role of the survivin protein in cancer treatment and concluded that it can stop the spread of cancer cells in the human body. On Tuesday, April 20, the portal NGS24.ru reports with reference to an article in the journal “Oncology, Hematology and Radiology”.

According to the conclusions of scientists, this protein is promising from the point of view of the possibility of developing cancer diagnostic systems and can become the basis for the creation of anticancer drugs. Survivin may be responsible for starting or disabling the processes of self-destruction of cells, in particular, cancerous ones.

“If successful, it will be possible to diagnose cancer at an early stage and reduce its harmful effects on humans. This protein prevents cell death. It blocks harmful cells and prevents them from spreading, ”the scientists noted.

As noted, at the moment, scientists are embarking on the first stage of research funded by a grant from the Krasnoyarsk Science Foundation.

On April 15, an article was published by scientists from the Grossman School of Medicine at New York University, according to which proteins that regulate the cell cycle are the key enzymes for preventing cancer.

The day before, it became known that scientists are developing a new digital technology for diagnosing cancer pathologies at an early stage in humans.

It was noted that the procedure will be carried out using a light scanner, and artificial intelligence (AI) will analyze the resulting images. Thus, AI will eliminate the possibility of human error in making a diagnosis, which can be fatal for a patient.
