People with high blood pressure should consume tomato juice. This was reported by Zion scientists from Tokyo Medical University, according to the Express edition.
481 volunteers took part in the experiment, they were offered to consume unsalted tomato juice, the amount of serving was not limited. At the same time, the participants in the observation kept diaries in which they noted changes in their physical condition.
As a result, after comparing the testimony of the volunteers, it turned out that in most people with prehypertension or hypertension, blood pressure dropped by an average of 3%.
According to the study authors, tomato juice is beneficial due to its sodium content, however, the maximum effect will be achieved when consumed without additives.
Earlier in March, dietitian Andrei Bobrovsky said that many Russians violate the established norm of salt intake. He warned that WHO recommends that adults consume no more than 5 grams of salt per day. Nevertheless, in Europe and the United States, the average resident consumes about 10 g of salt per day, and in Russia – 12 g.
Deviations from the norm, according to the doctor, threaten cardiovascular diseases, for example, hypertension.
