Forensic expert Yuri Kapshtyk told under what conditions workers are entitled to double salary.

According to him, we are talking about excess work, when an employee is involved in work beyond the usual schedule. According to him, with piecework wages, the employee will not receive payments on non-working days.

“When using the” salary + piecework “payment scheme, the employee will receive only the salary calculation, since he does not produce any products these days,” he continued.

Employees of organizations whose activities are classified as continuous will also work on the weekend from May 4 to May 7, for them this weekend will become ordinary workers.

If the employer attracts employees to work in excess of the usual schedule or shift schedule, then such excess work must be paid double, he said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta on April 25. Such a norm is enshrined in article 153 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation and the letter of Rostrud dated February 8, 2021 No. 287-TZ “On determining the amount of wages for work on weekends and non-working holidays.”

Oil refining, metallurgy, nuclear industry, pulp and paper, construction remain continuous operating industries, if the suspension of their activities poses a threat to the safety, health and life of people.

“In addition, organizations engaged in heating, power supply, sewerage, water supply will continue to serve the population,” Kapshtyk emphasized.

Work will continue on the operation of hazardous industrial facilities, cellular companies and Internet providers, trade, hotels.

On April 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the idea of the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, to make the May holidays continuous due to the coronavirus pandemic. Popova noted that disrupted holidays would make Russians more likely to travel by public transport, returning to the city and leaving for their dachas, which carries risks. On the same day, Putin signed a decree on non-working days between May holidays in 2021.
