More than 100 fraudulent airline ticket sites have been detected in recent months, cybersecurity experts said.
So, according to the international company Group-IB, the last one and a half to two months there has been a boom in the creation of phishing and fraudulent resources. If in July there are about 30 of them, then in August there are already about a hundred, said Yakov Kravtsov, head of anti-counterfeiting of the company’s brand protection department.
According to him, most of these sites specialize in the sale of air tickets. There are also resources for a collection of hotel rooms and car rentals. Attackers use such sites to obtain data from citizens’ cards or the money itself.
Currently, most of the fraudulent sites are blocked, but it is necessary to remain vigilant, Kravtsov noted.
He pointed out that fraudsters often use the brands of well-known air carriers and ticket aggregators.

In the second quarter alone, the number of fake resources copying real sites increased by 71. At the same time, malicious mailings are often so well disguised that it is difficult to recognize them. It was this direct mailing – allegedly on behalf of the Federal Tax Service – that was recorded by specialists at the end of July.
