Joint patrols were conducted by Russian and Turkish military personnel in the Haseke province in the Qamishli region of northeastern Syria.

It was attended by about 70 servicemen of both countries and about 10 pieces of equipment, including the armored vehicles “Tiger” and “Typhoon” of the Russian military police. The Turkish military moved in Kirpi armored vehicles.

According to the senior column of the Russian Armed Forces, Colonel Andrei Titov, the joint patrol took place without incident, in a normal mode. He added that it was already 144th in a row.

The meeting of the servicemen of the two countries took place at a checkpoint near the village of Jarih al-Faykani. The joint convoy of equipment covered the 95 km route in four hours and monitored the situation in the settlements of Dellik, Tell Kadish, Kirbatli and Tell Tayr, where, according to earlier agreements, there should be no Kurdish armed formations. The patrols were carried out with the support of helicopters of the army aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Regular joint patrols are carried out after the signing in 2019 by the presidents of Russia and Turkey of a memorandum of joint action to resolve the situation in northeastern Syria. The routes of the Russian and Turkish sides are jointly designed. Military translators are assisted in interaction with the military.

Earlier, on March 26, it was reported that three refugee checkpoints reopened in Syria, a year after they were closed due to the actions of the armed opposition. We are talking about the points “Seraqib” and “Miznas” in the Idlib de-escalation zone and “Abu-Azeidin” in the Aleppo region.
