The Federation Council and the State Duma of Russia were skeptical about the proposal of the European Commission to allow entry into the European Union countries only fully vaccinated against coronavirus with approved vaccines at least two weeks before the visit.

Thus, according to Senator Alexander Bashkin, a member of the Russian delegation to PACE, such a measure has nothing to do with caring for the citizens of EU countries, but is exclusively an “invention of additional restrictions”, very reminiscent of sanctions.

And the head of the State Duma’s international affairs committee, Leonid Slutsky, saw the preconditions for the emergence of a “coronavirus curtain” in the EU proposal.

“Such measures will contribute to the establishment of a kind of covid curtain, at least for a certain period,” he said.
